Frequently Asked Questions

The whole game builds toward one moment: the Confrontation, where you seal a vote naming the two cursed objects. Get it right and the case is solved. Get it wrong and it was, quite literally, your last deduction. Everything before that — the deaths, the reveals, the bluffs at the morning meeting — is just you deciding when you're sure enough to say it out loud.

Quick Play — the full classic game, with all thirteen entities, the leaderboard, and persistent rival relationships — is free, forever, with no ads. The Detective Career, a ladder of authored cases with ranks, tools, and progressive difficulty, is a single one-time purchase. Since we don't take outside investment, show ads, or sell your data, that unlock is what keeps the lights on (dim, as intended).

Scary the way a candlelit room is scary — not the way a haunted house ride is. There are no jump scares, no loud stingers, no screen shake, no strobing; the dread comes from slowness, absence, and the arithmetic of who's left. And every atmospheric effect — motion, light, fog, sound, haptics — has its own dial in settings, with a one-tap "Calm" mode that quiets everything at once. The quieter game is still the same game.

No. The Last Deduction is completely offline. There are no logins, no cloud saves, and no accounts. Your progress, career, bestiary, and rivalries are all stored locally on your device.

No — they are hand-built game opponents, not language models. Nothing is generated in the cloud and nothing you do is sent anywhere. Each rival is a named persona with its own deduction logic, honesty, and nerve. They see exactly the same evidence you do, they can solve the case without you, and they remember how you treated them last game.

You can — anyone may walk into the Confrontation room with no evidence at all. With fourteen objects there are ninety-one possible cursed pairs, so a blind guess succeeds about 1.1% of the time. The other 98.9% of the time, everyone in the room dies. The game will not stop you. The game is, in fact, counting on it.

Surviving a given night involves luck — the entity takes exactly one sleeper, and you can't ever make yourself safe. Solving the case is skill: every death publishes evidence, every failed Confrontation eliminates pairs, and a careful researcher narrows ninety-one candidates to one. The real decision — and the real skill — is knowing when your evidence is worth risking another night for.

Everything stays on your device. We collect nothing, track nothing, and have no servers to send anything to. The only data that leaves your phone is whatever the app store itself handles when you purchase the Detective Career unlock.

The Last Deduction is coming soon to Android and iOS. This page will grow store links the moment the door opens.
